Este año se cumplen 50 años de la fundación de The Kinks y a raíz de este aniversario, Legacy Records, dueños de la licencia de 16 álbumes de The Kinks lanzados entre 1971 y 1986, sacarán “The Essential Kinks” la primer antología de la banda, el próximo 14 de octubre.
La edición de dos discos incluirá 48 temas, entre los que destacan ‘You Really Got Me’, ‘Waterloo Sunset’, ‘Strangers’, ‘Life Goes On’ y ’20th Century Man’, entre otros, además de versiones en vivo de ‘Lola’ y ‘Where Have All The Good Times Gone’. La recopilación incluirá notas escritas por David Bowie.
